- Admission to MBA AB is made based on the combined merit of written test conducted by Banaras Hindu University along with GDPI conducted by FMS BHU
- For PGDBA, admission is granted based on the merit of GDPI of eligible candidates
- Candidates seeking admission to PhD must have a valid score in common Research Entrance Test conducted by the Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University. Those who’ve qualified NET-JRF of UGC NET are exempted from this test.

Institute of Management Studies offers two-year MBA, MBA IB, MBA AB and one-year PGDBA at the PG level.
- Admission to MBA and MBA IB is offered on the basis of a combined merit of CAT (50% weightage), academic records (20% weightage) and GDPI (30% weightage)

Institute of Management Studies BHU PhD Admission 2023
At the research level, Institute of Management Studies under BHU offers PhD programme in Management. There are two categories for admission to doctoral programme in Management. First is via Common Research Entrance Test conducted by the Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University every year. The second is CRET Exempted Category to which candidates who have qualified NET-JRF of UGC-NET are considered for admission. In addition to this, working executives are also considered for admission under this category as a part-time research scholar.

The application process of Institute of Management Studies BHU differs from one programme to another. In order for admission to FMS BHU for various courses, candidates are required to follow the below steps:
- For MBA and MBA IB: Candidates are required to appear for CAT and register at FMS BHU via a separate admission application form available at the institute normally during August-November every year. This application form could also be downloaded from the website (www.bhu.ac.in) or (www.fmsbhu.ac.in) according to the admission notification normally released in the last week of August every year.
- For MBA AB: The application forms are available at the counter at Controller of Examinations, BHU after the admission notification is released in the month of April-May every year.
- Shortlisted candidates are required to submit a Demand Draft of Rs 2,000 (or for the amount to be mentioned through GDPI call letter) in the favour of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University payable at Varanasi as processing fee for GDPI
